Ben Harper To Play Santa Barbara Bowl This June, Tickets On Sale March 3rd

Ben Harper to perform at the beautiful Santa Barbara Bowl on Saturday, June 30th, with special guest

Fitz and the Tantrums. Tickets go on sale Saturday, March 3rd at 11am.

Ben Harper is a musician, artist, and activist. Whether it’s through the soul of southern Gospel, 70s funk,

blues, reggae, or straightforward rock and roll, Harper and his trademark Weissenborn guitar have been

stunning audiences with incendiary live performances and timeless songwriting. Harper continues to

innovate his craft as a songwriter, performer, and producer. He has released ten acclaimed studio albums

since 1994 and three live albums. These releases, combined with an unceasing commitment to international

touring, has helped Harper grow a fan base that now spans several continents. A collaborator by nature,

Harper has recorded and performed with a long list of artists including Ringo Starr, Pearl Jam, Jackson

Browne, Rickie Lee Jones, Taj Mahal, Jack Johnson and Vanessa De Matta. His album with the Blind Boys

of Alabama, There Will Be A Light, earned two Grammy awards for Best Pop Instrumental Performance and

Best Traditional Soul Gospel Album.

In their sound, as heard on their latest release Pickin’ Up The Pieces, and on the stage, Fitz and the

Tantrums are nothing but professionals, and never less than classy. Enter the Tantrums, Fitz’s airtight

ensemble keeping it real like it’s 1969. Funky drummer John Wicks is a Motown B-side aficionado and

prolific session player, Jeremy Ruzumna manned the keyboards and was musical director for Macy Gray.

James King backed De La Soul and bassist Joseph Karnes is a well sought after session player. Then there’s

Noelle Scaggs, the powerful voice behind Fitz’s croons. Make no mistake, Scaggs is not just there for “doowops”

and handclaps. She shimmies and flirts, she stokes the crowd and simmers them down, and she has no

qualms about keeping Fitz in check.
