Thousands Of Fans Gather At Neverland Ranch To Remember Michael Jackson On One Year Anniversary
Hollywood Icon Magazine was on hand in Los Olivos, yesterday, as hundreds of fans gathered at the gates of Neverland Ranch to remember the King Of Pop.
The gathering was definitely not the size or intensity that we saw last year, but there was the same sense of admiration in the air. A Michael Jackson impersonator drove up and performed MJ’s hit, “Wanna Be Startin’ Something.” A tour bus of excited Japanese visitors came through and dropped off about 30 guests. One of the young adult Japanese women was visibly moved by the moment. She put her hand against the stone columns, beside the Neverland gates, and cried for about 15 minutes. Other fans smiled and laughed while they exchanged stories and memories.
There were over 200 fans at the memorial at any given time, during the day.
The words “Neverland- Once Upon A Time,” had been removed from the gates. Workers and security were abuzz, inside the gates that had no visible memory of MJ. But, messages could be seen, scrawled upon the stone walls and posters and drawings were left all over the site.
We were left with smiles on our faces as we left the ranch, listening to a radio station out of Santa Barbara, who played Michael Jackson hits all day. You are not alone, Michael.
