Lifehouse #1 On Billboard’s List of the Biggest Adult Top 40 Hits

Fifteen years ago, Billboard launched its Adult Top 40 chart — in the magazine’s March 16th, 1996 issue, to be exact.  To mark the chart’s 15th anniversary, Billboard has compiled a list ranking the biggest Adult Top 40 hits ever to appear on it.  Coming in at number one isLifehouse, with their song “You And Me.”  The song reigned at the top of the chart for nine weeks in 2005.  Coming in at #2 is “Drops of Jupiter” by Train, followed by The Calling’s “Wherever You Will Go.”  Here’s the rest of the top 10:

4. “Smooth,” Rob Thomas/Carlos Santana
5. “Unwell,” Matchbox Twenty
6. “Hanging By A Moment,” Lifehouse
7. “How to Save a Life,” The Fray
8. “Chasing Cars,” Snow Patrol
9. “Hey Soul Sister,” Train
10. “Why Don’t You & I,” Chad Kroeger or Alex Band/Santana (there were two versions of the song)

Note: Notice that Lifehouse also has the #6 song on the list.

The list was compiled based on how well each song did during its time on the chart.  In addition to these artists, all of whom scored additional entries in the top 40, other artists who racked up numerous entries include P!nkNickelback, and The Goo Goo Dolls.
