Song Of The Day: Silversun Pickups “Lazy Eye” (Video)

2006 Drone-Filled Vibe Gets More Addicting The More You Listen To It

Have you ever had one of those songs that slipped right past you? One that you discovered a decade or two after it’s release that made you feel low-key embarrassed that you missed it? Lazy Eye was one of those songs for me.

The night that I discovered it, I went to the gym and had it on repeat for 45 minutes straight. It’s the guitar riff, the drum and bass jumpy groove, the soaring vocals… This is everything you’ve always wanted in an alternative rock song.

How many bands have a first single that has such maturity in songwriting? Siversun dropped Carnavas in 2006, followed by a dope video that got a ton of airplay on MTV and was even a VH1 “Pop-Up Video.” The song is written by lead singer and guitarist Brian Aubert. “Well Thought Out Twinkles” was also released as a single off the album.

Enjoy the journey below:

I’ve been waiting
I’ve been waiting for this moment all my life
But it’s not quite right

And this ‘real’
It’s impossible if possible
At whose blind word
So clear but so unheard

I’ve been waiting
I’ve been waiting for this silence all night long
It’s just a matter of time

To appear sad
With the same old decent lazy eye
Fixed to rest on you
Aim free but so untrue

Everyone’s so intimately rearranged
Everyone’s so focused clearly with such shine

Everyone’s so intimately prearranged
Everyone’s so focused clearly with such shine

Locked and loaded
Still the same old decent lazy eyes
Fixed through your gaze
That’s why I said I relate
I said we really
Need to fight to relate

It’s the room the sun and the sky
The room the sun and the sky

I’ve been waiting
I’ve been waiting for this moment
