Staples Center Named Top Grossing Venue In North America For 2011
Pollstar Magazine released their top grossing venues rankings worldwide and Los Angeles’ STAPLES Center came in ranked as the top grossing arena in North America and the 7th highest grossing arena in the world. Pollstar Magazine is the one of the top trade publication covering the worldwide concert industry and has been supplying in-depth information to every professional concert promoter, booking agent, artist manager, facility executive and every other entity involved in the live entertainment business for 30 years. Pollstar generates their rankings starting January 1st, 2011 – December 31st, 2011.
STAPLES Center had an incredible 2011 hosting 36 concerts in which 30 of them were sellouts. All of the shows were big winners, but it was the multiple night shows that really stood out which included Mana, Sade, Taylor Swift, and Jay-Z & Kanye West. Other artists that played STAPLES Center in 2011 include Linkin Park, Hillsong United, Juanes, Glee Live in Concert, Usher, Rihanna, NKOTBSB, Josh Groban, Jenni Rivera, Tony Bennett, Enrique Iglesias, Keith Urban, Chris Brown, Katy Perry and Bob Seger. Special events included the GRAMMY Awards, 2011 NBA All-Star weekend, Pac-12 Basketball Tournament, ESPN X Games, Disney on Ice and Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey Circus.

In additional industry publications, STAPLES Center finished ranked the #1 grossing arena in North America and #5 worldwide by Billboard Magazine (rankings based on November 10th, 2010 – November 8th, 2011). Venues Today, another highly regarded industry publication, ranked STAPLES Center the #1 grossing arena in North America and #3 worldwide (rankings based on October 16th, 2010 – October 15th, 2011).
Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE, which is located directly across the street from STAPLES Center, finished ranked #9 worldwide by Pollstar. Additionally, Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE finished ranked #4 worldwide by Billboard Magazine and #3 worldwide by Venues Today. Nokia Theatre hosted over 120 music, family, dance and comedy acts, award shows, televised productions, movie premiers, conventions and product launches and is the home to the American Idol Finale Shows, American Music Awards, ESPY Awards, Primetime Emmy Awards, People’s Choice Awards and the 2010 & 2011 MTV Video Music Awards. Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE has been named the Pollstar Theatre of the year for three out of the past four years.
