Steely Dan Coming To Santa Barbara Bowl This July
Rock & Roll Hall of Famers Steely Dan hit the Santa Barbara Bowl on Wednesday, July 6th. Greatest hits
and deep cuts alike will be showcased during the “Shuffle Diplomacy Twenty Eleven” tour. Sam Yahel will
be the tour’s main support act. Tickets go on sale Saturday, March 26 at 11 AM.
For “Shuffle Diplomacy Twenty Eleven,” Donald Fagen and Walter Becker have assembled a crack group
of top players dubbed the “Miles High Band” featuring the “Embassy Brats.” The “Band” and “Brats” include
Jon Herington (guitar); Freddie Washington (bass); Keith Carlock (drums); Michael Leonhart, Walt
Weiskopf, Roger Rosenberg and Jim Pugh (horns); Jim Beard (keys); plus background singers Tawatha
Agee, Carolyn Escoffery and Catherine Russell.
Steely Dan has sold more than 30 million albums worldwide, and helped define the soundtrack of the ’70s
with hits including “F.M.,” “Bodhisattva,” “Reelin’ in the Years,” “Rikki Don’t Lose That Number,” “Deacon
Blues,” “Peg,” “Babylon Sisters,” and “Hey Nineteen,” culled from their seven platinum albums issued
between 1972 and 1980. They reunited in the early ’90s and have toured throughout the decade and
beyond, releasing multi-Grammy winner Two Against Nature in 2000 and its acclaimed follow-up Everything
Must Go in 2003. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001.
Critics raved about the performances on last year’s “Rent Party Tour,” with the New York Times stating that
Fagen “was deep in the music…unprepossessing solos, swinging, nasty and percussive, a cross between
Count Basie and Ray Charles.” The Los Angeles Times raved: “Everyone gathered Friday evening was a
believer – and they were treated to something close to rapture.”
Don’t miss your chance to see the legendary Steely Dan with special guest Sam Yahel at the Santa
Barbara Bowl on Wednesday, July 6th. Tickets range from $39.00 to $113.00, plus applicable service
charges.
