Steve Jobs, Apple Release Highly Anticipated iPad For $499
The space between smartphones and laptops just got a whole lot smaller. Apple Inc. CEO Steve Jobs just unveiled the highly anticipated “iPad” and announced that they are releasing it for the low price of $499.
The iPad is a sleek, half-inch thick tablet computer with a 9.7-inch touchscreen that can run movies, games and a gamut of applications. The iPad has a near life-sized touch keyboard and supports Web browsing. It comes with a built-in calendar and address book.
Apple also announced a digital bookstore called iBooks.
It looks as if AT&T won the data plan war against Verizon as Apple announced the plan today.
HIMag’s Take: The aggressive pricing puts it in the range of any consumer, including students and businesspeople. We can see the iPad taking the place of the iPod as Apple’s second best seller (behind the iPhone). Hopefully, the finished product will live up to all the hype.
