The Eagles Glenn Frey Announces May Wiltern Theatre Show
Six-time Grammy Award winner and founding member of The Eagles, Glenn Frey will kick off The After Hours Tour in New York City at The Town Hall on May 9th. The spring/summer tour will make stops in New York, Los Angeles and Washington, DC. The tour comes on the heels of Frey’s May 8threlease of After Hours, a collection of classic love songs from the 40’s to the present, from Universal Music Enterprises. After Hours, his sixth solo album and first since 1995, is a total departure taking Frey in a whole new direction. Frey will take the stage at The Wiltern on May 26.
Tickets go on sale Saturday, March 24 at 10 AM and can be purchased at LiveNation.com at select Live Nation and Ticketmaster retail outlets and via Charge-By-Phone at (800) 745-3000.
The two-and-a half year project was developed out of Frey’s passion for the songs and sound of such artists as Tony Bennett, Nat King Cole, and Dinah Washington. The exquisite collection of songs include 40’s classics such as “Sentimental Reasons” and “My Buddy,” and favorites from some of his contemporaries, such as Brian Wilson’s “Caroline No” and Randy Newman’s “Same Girl” as well as the added spice of the American standard, “Route 66.” Frey collaborated with co-producers Richard F.W. Davis and Michael Thompson, both members of The Eagles touring band, to make the 14-track record possible.
“It was a new adventure for me as a vocalist to see if I could indeed learn, own and deliver these songs. And I’m so happy I took the challenge, once I got started it seemed like these songs had been waiting for me to sing them, and I feel like since I’ve done this record I’m a better singer than I was before I started. It’s a different style of singing,” said Frey, a 1998 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee.
After Hours is a dedication to Frey’s parents to celebrate the songs and love of music they instilled in him at a young age. Some of Frey’s earliest memories take place in his grandmother’s kitchen, watching his mother iron and sing along with the radio. The romance of that memory weaves itself into each track of After Hours.
“It’s been great to spend the last two and a half years living with these amazing songs. I’ve enjoyed working with these talented musicians and finally seeing how it all fit together. It’s been an incredible experience,” said Frey.
After Hours will be available in all formats: Digital, CD and Vinyl.
