“The Pee-Wee Herman Show,” starring Paul Ruebens, will begin a limited engagement 4-week run starting January 12, 2010, at Club Nokia @ LA Live. This theatrical production is rated PG and will run for four weeks. The show features one of the most beloved characters of all-time and a cultural icon who is responsible for many entertainment trends. The show is a live, multimedia extravaganza with Broadway scale production values.

Hollywood Icon Magazine was on hand at Club Nokia this morning, to watch Ruebens announce the brand new version of the show, which is adapted from the original production by Reubens, Bill Steinkellner and John Paragon. Many of the original actors, stage designers and musical composers who worked on the show are back. The run of shows is being put on by Goldenvoice, Bud Light and Scott Sanders Productions.

This is amazing news from Pee-Wee Herman! It’s fascinating to watch this legend of television and film speak. You are drawn in and fascinated by trademark mannerisms, waiting to see what he does next.

We believe that this is the start of something huge. We have a hunch that you will see him on the silver screen before you know it! Imagine Pee-Wee being teamed again with director Tim Burton and composer Danny Elfman to do a 2010′s version of what he does best (Burton and Elfman’s first film was “Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure”).

The 57-year old Reubens today told how he once borrowed $5000 from his parents to develop his first stage show. It was that show that birthed an HBO special and eventually two Hollywood feature films. Who could forget “Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure” and “Big Top Pee-Wee?” The films shot Rueubens into huge stardom and led to the hit TV show, “Pee-Wee’s Playhouse.” Some 1991 personal speedbumps sent him retreating out of the public eye, until his career-reviving role as a drug dealer in the 2001 Johnny Depp movie, “Blow.” But, it has been 19 years since the Playhouse was on the air and all eyes will be on LA Live in January to re-live those Saturday morning memories.
