UCLA Basketball: JC Point Guard Lazeric Jones Signs Letter Of Intent With Bruins

Junior College transfer Lazeric Jones signed his Letter Of Intent with UCLA this week.  Jones is believed to be the second junior college player the university has ever recruited in its storied history of basketball.  Jones averaged 14.5 points, 4.9 rebounds and 5.7 assists last season for John A. Logan College in Carterville, Ill.

Jones, a graduate of Simeon High School in Chicago, is a rare package of quickness and size at point guard (6-foot 2, 197).  He will come in and have a great opportunity to play right away as Junior Jerime Anderson has struggled the past two seasons.  The Bruins recently found out that two PG prospects, Ray McAllum and Trey Ziegler, will play for their fathers at Detroit and Central Michigan University.

Santa Ana Mater Dei guard Tyler Lamb and center Josh Smith of Kent, Wash., have also signed to play with the Bruins.  ESPN’s U100 Rankings have Smith as the #20 recruit in the nation and Lamb at #28.  Smith will play Saturday April 17th at the 2010 Jordan Brand Classic at Madison Square Garden (ESPN2, 8 p.m. ET).
